How Alubyc began
The love for Golden Retrievers began in 1971, when a 9-year-old Karen was gifted her first Golden, Alumny Sunsprite. Bred by Mrs. Nerilyn Stark, this special puppy came into Karen’s life thanks to a serendipitous connection—her mother and grandmother were golfing partners with the breeder.
That single puppy sparked what would become a lifelong passion. Later that same year, Karen’s mother applied for the kennel prefix Alubyc (Karen’s maiden name spelled backwards), and their first litter was born, sired by Kyvalley Watergleam from the renowned Hope Phillips.
At Alubyc, we are dedicated to breeding sound, healthy, and true-to-type Golden Retrievers with beautiful temperaments.
Over the years, life brought its natural ebbs and flows—teenage years, raising children—but Karen always returned to her beloved Goldens. Now, with more time and freedom, her commitment to the breed is stronger than ever.
We source world-class semen from top bloodlines internationally and have also proudly imported several exceptional dogs from overseas.
The goal remains the same as it was in 1971: to honour and preserve the heart and soul of the Golden Retriever.

We have two children with special needs. Karen was so kind and chose the perfect puppy with just the right temperament to match our family.
